Supportive Care

At Peninsula Oncology Centre all our nurses are fully trained and experienced in managing the care of patients undergoing chemotherapy. It is not unusual for patients to experience some side effects during the course of their treatment and this can vary greatly for each individual.

It is important to discuss any side effects with your doctor and nurse. Our nurses keep in contact with patients following treatment to ensure they are coping well and offer solutions to any side effects they may be experiencing.

Occasionally patients will be admitted back to the Centre for assessment which usually involves checking blood pathology, monitoring patients for signs of infection, dehydration due to persistent nausea or vomiting, relief from severe constipation or pain management.

By offering a comprehensive supportive care service we can often reduce the need for patients to be admitted to hospital.
